| OBERKOCHEN/Germany, 26.06.2008. Carl Zeiss SMT, the world’s leading manufacturer of optical systems for chip fabrication has designated SCHOTT Lithotec, a division of SCHOTT AG, as a Carl Zeiss SMT Supply Chain Partner. SCHOTT Lithotec is part of the Advanced Materials business unit of the SCHOTT Group and is specialized in optical materials for the chip industry. Among its contributions, the supplier of high sophisticated optical materials particularly brings in to the partnership know-how in the field of crystals grown in highly advanced processes for use in special optical systems. The historic business relation between the two companies Carl Zeiss and SCHOTT is further strengthened by this close partnership. “We are very proud to be designated as a Supply Chain Partner. With this great honor, we are not only consolidating, but also expanding our long-term relationship and business with Carl Zeiss, our most important customer,” explained Dr. Johannes Hain, Executive Vice President of the SCHOTT Advanced Materials business unit. Peter Schlindwein, Director Supply Chain Management at Carl Zeiss SMT, also underscores the many years of collaboration between the two companies: “We anticipate that the close partnership and the associated open communication between us will help to utilize the competencies of our partner optimally and profitably for our products and our customers. To achieve this goal, we will jointly fine tune our technologies and product road maps on a regular basis.” Until now, five suppliers of optical and mechanical components have been honored with their nomination as Supply Chain Partners. In this way, the company and its partners are jointly preparing for the future requirements of the market and strengthening the trust placed by end customers in the products and technologies.
