General Information on Data Protection

Carl Zeiss aims to give you as much control of your personal data as possible. Normally, you can use our Carl Zeiss websites without providing any personal information.

In some areas of the Carl Zeiss websites, however, you are requested to provide us with personal information in order to help us enhance the site and keep in contact with you. You are asked for this type of data if, for example, you register for a newsletter, or if you send us your ideas using one of our contact forms or take part in an online survey. If you ask us not to use this data to contact you again in the future, we shall respect your wishes. The same applies if you want to delete your name from a newsletter distribution list.

The data you provide will be treated confidentially and will only be used within the framework of the relationship between you and Carl Zeiss. As required by German law, we must inform you that we and the companies in the Carl Zeiss Group store personal data in conjunction with our business relationship with you. The data given to us will not be provided or sold to third parties in other organizations.

This policy applies to all websites of companies in the Carl Zeiss Group. We have also instructed our staff to make then appropriate reference to and observe our data protection regulations in all areas of websites where personal data is requested.

Information on Data Security

Carl Zeiss knows how important it is to treat information given to us via the internet discreetly and to protect it accordingly. Here, we attach prime importance to ensuring data security in all e-Commerce sites. Therefore, we have taken great effort to guarantee that our online security measures are effective. Carl Zeiss shop sites use SSL (Secure Socket Layer) encryption technology. Websites where you are asked to enter such commercially relevant data as a credit card number are encrypted with SSL technology during transmission. Carl Zeiss always endeavors to ensure that the encryption technology used is always state of the art in order to guarantee the confidentiality of the data you transmit via the internet.

Cookies are small files that are temporarily stored on your hard drive. The information stored in cookies facilitate navigation and thus enable the enhancement of web site's user friendliness. On our public web site we ensure through machine-readable data protection guidelines according to the Platform for Privacy Preferences (P3P) of the World Wide Web Consortium that your visit to a web site of Carl Zeiss takes place in accordance with your personal cookie settings. Web Analysis with Urchin

Data obtained will be analyzed solely for trends and statistics and will then be deleted. Carl Zeiss uses the statistics and analysis program Urchin to statistically analyze visits to the Carl Zeiss web pages. This program is used to analyze in the server log files the data generated and saved during the use of Carl Zeiss web pages. The data is anonymized so that it cannot be allocated to a specific person. This saved information is used to compile reports on the use of the web page. Such reports help us to analyze and continually improve the offering of our web pages.

AddThis Bookmark Services

Carl Zeiss web pages contain AddThis fields. AddThis is an open service on the Internet that makes it possible to bookmark each of our web pages and to share them with other social network users (Facebook, Twitter, etc.). By using the AddThis field, you consent to the use of your data by AddThis LLC to the extent described at Carl Zeiss does not process or forward this data to third parties. You can reject the use of your data to a certain extent through the use of an "opt out" cookie. If you do not want AddThis to gather data about you via our web pages, you must not use these AddThis elements.

These buttons, when included on the web page, do not establish contact with the servers at Facebook, Google+ and Twitter. Clicking a second time transmits your recommendation. If you are already logged into a social network of your choice, this occurs without an additional window. Because this is a direct transmission, we do not receive any information on the transmitted data. The information transmitted states that you have opened the corresponding page. If you are simultaneously logged into Facebook & co. this information will be delivered to your social media account and therefore linked to you.

To find out more about the use and storage of your personal data by Facebook, Google+ and Twitter, please contact these social media companies directly. You can also block the social plug-ins with browser add-ins.

Business Relations

Information published by Zeiss domain may contain data on products and services which have not been announced or which are not available in your country. Such information does not imply that Carl Zeiss intends to offer these products or services in your country. If necessary, you can contact our regional sales organization which will be pleased to provide you with information on the availability of these products and services.

If software for download is offered free of charge, Carl Zeiss will not accept any liability resulting for damages from such download. You perform the download at your own risk, and all liability or warranty is excluded.
