Emerging Perspectives

Product Introduction Film

We shot the entire film with Nanos. They were that good. We have a scene against a mirror wall background, and I noticed that we got almost a Petzval effect with the bokeh in the background. They had a swirly spiral shape, which I love. I can never get enough of that. And then there were other interesting flares. We shot 97% of the film wide open at T1.5, which is a sweet spot that I thought looked great, stunning. That to me is the benchmark. I don’t want to use a lens that I can’t use wide open. I need that option."

Jon Joffin, ASC

The Nano Primes are a breath of fresh air. Their versatile look and build aesthetics is nothing short of the ZEISS legacy. A neat little package that matches incredibly well with high-end glass, yet by themselves, they are simply gorgeous, reliable and inspiring for filmmakers serious about investing in high quality cine lenses."

Clinton Harn

The Nano Primes felt exactly like the little sisters of the Supremes. The skin tones are exceptional, and when the scene is backlit, when it’s coming on the face, it’s very beautiful. Also, the lenses are really lightweight. That was the first thing I noticed. I shoot documentaries and a lot of commercials with a documentary style, and very light equipment. I think I can now go everywhere with these lenses, for sure, even for beauty commercials, because the skin tones are so beautiful. I was very happy because it’s super hard to find small lenses with such good qualities."

Valentine Lequet, UCO

The first thing I noticed was the blur. There was this incredible separation between sharp and out of focus areas. Their fall off isolates subjects in a unique way. Theses lenses lean towards storytelling, there’s mise-en-scene in the image. Their sharpness is pretty, yet very precise. There's a kind of softness, a roundness in the image that doesn't make it an aggressive lens at all."

Vincent Tartar, UCO

One of the things that’s interesting about the NPs is the design. For a long time, manufacturers were trying so hard to make lenses perfect and eliminate veiling glare, and they took away all the flares, and lenses got boring. And now, ZEISS came out with the Nanos - which bring back some of those flares, which we used. They were flaring beautifully, but they were also sharp enough to render details."

Brendan Steacy, ASC, CSC

Comprehensive Focal Range

With a  focal range containing 18mm, 24mm, 35mm, 50mm, 75mm, 100mm, Nano Primes ensure all-encompassing angle of views from wide-angle to tele, making them the go-to choice for diverse cinematic needs.

Covering Cinematic Full Frame

Full frame sensors amplify visual depth and character. Nano Primes cover these bigger sensors, empowering all cinematographers, no matter if up-and-coming or seasoned, to craft images rich in volume and personality.

Cinematic Look in Every Shot

The Nano Primes' high speed combined with their close focus capability delivers captivating shallow depth-of-field, even with wide-angle shots. The maximum aperture of  T1.5 and the rounded 12-blade iris produce an elegant bokeh, enabling the creation of true cinematic images. Offering a versatile and gentle sharpness akin to Supreme Primes, they're ideal for B-Cam and C-Cam or as a budget-friendly alternative.

Full Cine Ergonomics in a Small Package

Nano Primes excel in precision and durability. Featuring a compact design with a 95mm front diameter and an 86mm screw-in filter thread, they seamlessly integrate with gimbals and drones. The consistent position of focus and iris rings streamlines lens changes while offering easy-to-read calibrated scales, a smooth 280° focus rotation, and a 90° iris ring rotation for precise control.

Tested for Harsh Conditions

Certified for extreme conditions—cold, rain, and more—Nano Primes undergo rigorous testing, ensuring unmatched durability in the toughest filming environments. Nano Primes are the go-to lenses for everyday.

Interchangeable mount

The Nano Primes are ready for the easy exchange of additional mounts thanks to the proven ZEISS IMS (Interchangeable Mount System). With a user-adjustable back focus via shims, the lenses ensure precise scales even with entry-level cameras for which mount mechanics normally have higher tolerances.

Electronic Interface for Real-Time Lens Data

Thanks to the integrated electronic interface on the mount, the Nano Primes transmit real-time metadata such as focal length, focus distance and aperture to the camera. Further lens data for distortion and vignetting ist available in the ZEISS CinCraft ecosystem and thus for post-production (CinCraft Mapper) as well as in the recently introduced CinCraft Scenario camera tracking system.

Precision Manufacturing & Worldwide Service

ZEISS Nano Prime lenses are assembled by hand and engraved with individually calibrated scales. Serviceability is a top priority starting in the initial stages of the development process. ZEISS has built up a global service network in the recent years with authorized service stations offering service according to factory standards in the US, Europe and Asia.
